Nap Notes

Like a hungry monster, sleep has been sneaking up on me in the most unexpected times and places. I'm working full time at the moment, and unfortunately our workplace does not provide sleeping arrangements for expecting mothers, so I'm left to get creative. Sometimes planned and sometimes completely not, it turns out naps can happen just about anywhere. Here's a few that have worked for me:

-Standing in the hallway while looking at some papers

-In between bites of lunch and immediately after the last bite has been consumed

-There is this amazing column of cubbies at work filled with soft, used manila envelopes that stick out at just the perfect height to gently rest your whole face and body against. Unfortunately it's not out of sight, so I've only managed 2 mini naps there so far...

-In the printing/Xerox room. The hum of the machine lulls you quickly.

-In the middle of checking messages

-There is a big soft bench as I leave work and I am often tempted to just lie down and spend the night

-Leaning against a pole outside the supermarket

-While looking at a can of food in the supermarket

-I've found moments after waking up in the morning is the perfect time for a nap. Even if I got 9 hours that night, 1 or 2 more right then is perfect. This is only possible on the weekends though. My boss said if it's a rough morning, don't worry about coming in late. I don't think she meant that late though...

-In the middle of a sen

-The moment I step in the door at home. This is often when dinner should be getting started. I'm not sure Brian appreciates this, but at the moment the smell of food cooking makes me feel sick, so I get two birds with one stone there. Although, I would never really throw stones at birds.

-Right about now...

Goodnight.
