Million Dollar Mending Moment
I just had a million dollar moment, and I know those don't last too long, so I'm writing now before it starts to fade. It turns out that all the many hours learning to sew seams and make clothes and costumes with my mom actually stuck! For a long time I have made baby quilts, and things that stay generally flat- but when it involves something that has to fit a body it's a whole different story. So I didn't do anything really miraculous today, like make a prom dress. I just cut and hemmed a few shirts of Brian's that were too long and fixed some pants. I know, so unexciting. But they turned out looking as good as new, rather than the hobunk result I was sort of expecting! And I feel like a million dollars right now because... because... I'm not sure! Because I feel useful? Because I conquered the forgotten skill of mending t-shirts? Because 3 shirts that were neglected in the back of the closet will now get worn and loved and probably scorched in the hot shop? Or maybe because it's been on my to do list for months now and I finally get to cross it off. That always feels great... If I'm ever feeling I need a little boost, I think I'll start digging through the closet.

I LOVE crossing things off my list and sewing is one of those "amazing" things that I wish I could do! Good for you!
