It's official, we have an Australian in the household! After so many years in Aussie, it made sense for Brian to receive dual citizenship, and his window of opportunity was about to close. Luckily the Australian Embassy in Seoul performs citizenship ceremonies once or twice a year and Brian was able to attend. Apparently the ceremony was very fast, involving singing the anthem and pledging to be loyal to Australia and its people and upholding the laws, then a citizenship certificate was presented by the Ambassador. It was so fast, in fact, that I kinda missed it.... I am experiencing endless turmoil over this. It involved a miscalculation of time, a big knot of cording and 2 subway stops. I ran in there right at the end when they were all sipping peach juice. I was sweaty from running my heart out, which promptly dropped when I realized it was over. Next thing I know I am proudly telling a man that I'm actually a New Zealander, who I then find out is the Ambassador and as I swallow my tongue and reach out to shake his hand, I drop my camera on the floor... It was awful! Luckily, Aussies are very laid back and gave me an easy go on it. They even let me have some peach juice. And Brian... he still took me in with a hug and even let me take lots of pictures. What an amazing man... amazing American Australian. Congratulations love!
